Note that the Kelvin History website is a newly innovated addition to our school's many historical memorabilias. With the hundreds of biographies already added by a group of dedicated students we are not always opportuned to receive information that would better benefit our alumni biographies. If by chance you feel as though you have some missing details on any particular alumni then we will graciously accept to hear about them from you personally!Suggest a Change

Samuel Price Rattray
Samuel Price Rattray was born in 1903 in Westmount, Quebec, and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 2. He graduated from Kelvin High School in 1920. After a distinguished athletic career at the University of Manitoba, where he studied for two years, he began working with the Building Managers Association and Cushman Wakefield real estate brokers in New York. In 1927, he came back to Winnipeg and worked for his father’s business. He created his own company when his father died in 1933. His company closed down in 1948 when he left to join a different company. He was a member of the Board of Revision of the City of Winnipeg, and a Honorary Life Member of the Sanatorium Board of Manitoba and the Canadian Lung Association. He worked as a Director for various companies, such as Canadian Breweries and Monarch Life Trust Company. He was a member of the Board of Regents for the University of Winnipeg. In 1971, the University of Winnipeg awarded him an honorary doctorate. He died in Winnipeg on August 21, 1979.
