Note that the Kelvin History website is a newly innovated addition to our school's many historical memorabilias. With the hundreds of biographies already added by a group of dedicated students we are not always opportuned to receive information that would better benefit our alumni biographies. If by chance you feel as though you have some missing details on any particular alumni then we will graciously accept to hear about them from you personally!

Frank Markel

A notable philanthropist, an esteemed entrepreneur, and a talented mathematician, Frank Markel graduated from Kelvin High School in 1963 and later earned a Masters and PhD in mathematics from the University of Toronto. Throughout his career Markel has headed many organizations that pursue advances in medical treatments and support the community. In 2005, he became the CEO of Trillium Gift of Life Network, an enterprise that promotes organ and tissue donations, offering more opportunities for patients in dire need of transplants. During his term, Markel worked diligently to increase the total amount of organ donations received by 33%. Moreover, he helped establish the Toronto Rehabilitation institution. Currently, Markel serves as the President and CEO of the Jewish Vocational Services, a non-profit organization that offers employment and education opportunities to immigrants, aiding them achieve their goals.
