Are there any changes we should make?

Note that the Kelvin History website is a newly innovated addition to our school's many historical memorabilias. With the hundreds of biographies already added by a group of dedicated students we are not always opportuned to receive information that would better benefit our alumni biographies. If by chance you feel as though you have some missing details on any particular alumni then we will graciously accept to hear about them from you personally!

Gerald O. Jewers

Gerald O. Jewers graduated from Kelvin High School in 1949, and later graduated from the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Law with a Bachelor of Laws in 1955 and a Master of Laws in 1957. In 1977 he was appointed a judge of the County Court of Winnipeg. Jewers practiced civil litigation with the law firms of Newman, MacLean & Associates and Fillmore & Riley until 1984 when he was appointed a judge on the Manitoba Court of the Queen's Bench. In 1985 he was appointed a member of the Manitoba Law Reform Commission, and he also served as the Chair of the Statutory Rules Committee until 2007.
Jewers has acted as the editor of the Manitoba Bars News, co-editor of Headnotes and Footnotes, President of the Manitoba Bar Association, President of the Manitoba Medical Legal Society and chair of the Manitoba Commission of Inquiry into Lottery Profits.
